Every child deserves to grow up in love, care, and safety. At Dzherelo Centre, we support families who have opened their hearts to children who, for various reasons, cannot live with their biological parents.
These are foster families, family-type children’s homes, guardians, and caregivers — people who give children a second chance at a happy childhood.
Who do we support?
Our social work professionals provide support and guidance to:
- foster families;
- family-type children’s homes (FTCH);
- guardians and caregivers.
Foster Family
A family or individual who takes in 1–4 orphaned children or children deprived of parental care. Children live with the family until the age of 18 or until they complete their education. The state provides financial assistance to the foster parents.
Family-Type Children’s Home (FTCH)
A family or individual who raises 5 or more children (maximum 10 including biological children). Children live in the home until they reach adulthood or finish their education. State financial support is also provided.
Guardianship and Custodianship
Guardianship applies to children under the age of 14.
Custodianship is for children aged 14 to 18.
Guardians may be grandparents, siblings, or other relatives — the key is that the child receives care and stability. Guardians receive financial support and are responsible for reporting on expenditures related to the child.

We are there every step of the way — from the very beginning and throughout the journey:
- helping with education, healthcare, and legal protection;
- supporting household and housing needs;
- assisting with paperwork and access to benefits;
- providing psychological support;
- encouraging the development of life and parenting skills.
We believe that together with you, we can make every child’s childhood warm and joyful.
How to access the services?
Dzherelo specialists work closely with the Children’s Services Department. When a new foster family, FTCH, or guardianship arrangement is created, we become part of the process and provide comprehensive support.
