House of Supported Living

Every person has the right to a home – not just a roof over their head, but a space where they are respected, heard, and supported.

The Home of Supported Living is a place created for people with disabilities who wish to live independently, make their own decisions, and actively participate in community life, but require support to do so. Structurally and functionally, it resembles a traditional home and serves as an alternative to psychoneurological dispensaries. The living format is as close to a domestic environment as possible: residents have their own space, are involved in daily life, and receive assistance only where it is truly necessary. The facility can accommodate up to 20 residents at a time.

This is the first house of its kind in Ukraine that is owned by the Lviv community and funded by the municipal budget. It stands as our example of a new standard for social services.

Who do we support?

  • people with disabilities aged 18 to 50 who require assistance (Short-term Respite Care service).
  • people with disabilities who have lost – or are at high risk of losing – their parents or guardians (Supported Living service).

How do we help?

The Home of Supported Living provides two main services: Short-term Respite Care for families and Supported Living (launching soon).

Short-term Respite Care for Families

This service is designed for families caring for adults with disabilities. Under this program, the person with a disability lives in the home for a set period, receives necessary support, attends day programs, and participates in daily activities and outings. This allows their relatives to rest, recover, or attend to personal matters.

Duration: Up to 30 days per year (all at once or split into two stays). People with disabilities aged 18 to 50 are eligible.

This service is vital for both caregivers and the young adults themselves. For families, it offers physical recovery, time for medical treatment, and relief from the emotional and physical exhaustion of constant care. For the young adults, it is a chance to gain their first experience of independent living, spend time away from parents, expand their social circle, and socialize through various activities.

Supported Living

The Supported Living service is available to people with disabilities under the age of 50 (at the time of application) who have lost their parents or guardians, or who are at high risk of such a loss.

In this program, adults with disabilities remain as independent as possible while receiving necessary support. Residents participate in planning their own day, have their own private space and daytime employment, and are actively involved in community life.

We prioritize dignity, autonomy, and a new quality of life.
