The Centre for Social Services “Dzherelo” has opened a new Branch of daycare for youth with disabilities. The new location is situated at 17 Patona Street in the Zaliznychnyi district of the city.

This new branch welcomes young people aged 18 to 45. The Patona location is the ninth in a network of day care branches being systematically developed throughout Lviv. The facility was designed with a focus on barrier-free access and accessibility to ensure comfortable and independent movement for individuals with musculoskeletal disorders. The site is staffed by a social worker and two social assistants who provide daily support to the program participants.

“Our goal is to make our services as accessible as possible for children and youth with disabilities. Having these spaces closer to home is important not only for the convenience of the families but also for the physical well-being of the young people and children. Opening this new branch allows us to reach more people, providing them with support, skill development, and an environment for communication and socialization,” says Zoreslava Liulchak, Director of Dzherelo Centre.

The branch is housed in a 96-square-meter space that formerly served as a local housing office (JEK). It now provides an accessible environment for daily activities, the development of independent living skills, socialization, and interaction with peers. Major renovations are complete, including interior repairs and the installation of furniture, kitchen equipment, and appliances. Outside, new paving and a ramp have been installed for barrier-free access.

Since 2018, the Lviv City Council and the Dzherelo Centre team have been working together to network day care services and open branches in various neighborhoods across Lviv. For each new location, the city provides municipal premises in various buildings, with funding for renovations coming from both the city budget and charitable donors.

The Dzherelo Centre space on Patona Street was created with the support of: Lviv City Council, Canada-Ukraine Foundation, “Children of Victory” (Dity Peremohy) Charity Foundation.
